So if pecan pie is good, and chocolate is good, why not combine them and have the best of both worlds in a Chocolate Pecan Pie?
9” pie crust 1 1/2 cups pecans 3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips 3 large eggs 1 cup sugar 1 cup dark corn syrup 4 TB butter, melted 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Coarsely chop the pecans, reserving about 16 whole pecans if you would like to use them for decoration. Place the nuts on a baking sheet and roast for about 6-8 minutes. Cool.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, corn syrup, butter, vanilla and salt. Stir in the chopped toasted nuts and chocolate chips.
Warm the pie crust in the oven for about 5 minutes. Pour in the filling. If you are decorating, arrange the reserved whole pecans around the edge. These don’t show up much but give a nice sense of finish to the pie.
Bake 40-45 minutes. The center should seem partially set but not firm. The filling will firm up as the pie cools.
Tips from Jane
— The quantity of nuts is not crucial. I tend to use the larger amount, because I love pecans. I’ve seen many recipes that use only 1 cup, so the choice is up to you.
— Toasting the nuts brings out the flavor; again, it’s not essential but a nice touch.
— It can be difficult to judge when this pie is done, and I’ve had it take 40 minutes one time and a bit over 45 the next. If you’re not sure, I would err on the side of under baking, because it does firm up nicely.
— Warming the pie crust is supposed to keep it from getting soggy.
— I’m told that you can substitute light corn syrup for a milder flavor, and brown sugar for a more intense, caramel flavor.
— If you prefer to focus just on the nuts, check out our Pecan Pie recipe.

9” baked pie crust Filling ingredients: 1 cup sugar 1/3 cup cornstarch 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 cup lemon juice 1 cup water 4 eggs, separated (whites will be used in the meringue) 4 TB butter, cut into small pieces 2 tsp grated lemon rind
Mix together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium saucepan, off the heat. Add the lemon juice and water and stir with a whisk. Add the egg yolks and whisk until the mixture is well blended and of uniform color.
Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes. The mixture will thicken and start to bubble. It should be thick enough so that it holds its shape when you stir it. Remove from the heat and stir in the butter and lemon rind. The mixture will be thick and very yellow.
Pour the mixture into a baked pie crust and cover it with plastic wrap to keep a skin from forming on top.
Meringue ingredients: 4 egg whites 1 TB cornstarch 1 TB sugar 1/3 cup water 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp cream of tartar 1/2 cup sugar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and place oven rack in the middle.
In a small pan, combine the cornstarch, 1 TB sugar, and water. Cook for several minutes over medium heat, stirring constantly. The mixture will thicken and become translucent. Cool.
Beat the egg whites until frothy, then add the vanilla, cream of tartar, and 1/2 cup sugar. Beat until foamy. Add the cornstarch mixture and continue beating until the meringue forms soft peaks; if you lift some with a spoon or spatula, it should form a peak that stands up. The meringue will also look shiny.
Remove the plastic wrap from the pie and spread the meringue over the filling. Start by spreading it around the edges, being sure to seal the edges of the crust. Pile the meringue into the middle of the pie and make some decorative swirls with your spatula. There will be a lot of meringue!
Bake for about 20-25 minutes. The meringue should be lightly browned. Check it frequently for the last 5-10 minutes to make sure the peaks don’t burn.
Tips from Jane — The number of lemons you will need depends on how large and juicy they are. I've used anywhere from 2 to 4 lemons, so make sure you have enough on hand.

This is my Grannies Recipe for Tarte Tatin You will need:
For eight people. Prep time 30 min. Cooking time 60 min.
Special equipment:1 Tarte Tatin mould or round cake tin 24cm (91/2in) diameter and 5cm (2in)
Pastry: 150g best quality puff. Filling: Approx 12 Granny Smith Apples 60g Unsalted Butter cut into thin slices. 2 large pinches of Cinnamon and more to taste. 135g Castor Sugar. Caramel: 75g Castor Sugar. 30g Unsalted Butter Rolling out the pastry Roll the puff pastry out on a lightly floured surface to just larger than the diameter of the tin. Place on a tray lightly dusted with flour and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Cut out a circle slightly larger than the tin and refrigerate until required. Preheat the oven to 375'F (190'C) Gas 5.
Preparing the apples Peel all the apples. Cut eight of them in half vertically, and scoop out the cores. It is very important to heavily scoop out the apples so that they will interlock with each other Cut the remaining four apples into quarters and remove the cores. Keep, covered.
Cooking the caramel Put the castor sugar in the tarte tatin mould and place over a medium heat until the sugar turns a dark caramel colour. Turn off the heat and stir in the butter. Cool down for a few minutes. It's very important to drain off any excess butter.
Building the tart Place 16 halves of apple upright around the tin/mould, back to back rounded side to scooped-out side.. Press theapple halves tightly together so that there are no gaps even if this means you have to add a half or two. (The apple halves will rise above the rim of the mould, by approximately 3cm/11/4in.) arrange the quarters and any other apples pieces in the middle to ensure a tight fit They should fit tightly enough to spring up a little after you have pushed them all down Evenly place the butter slices on top. Mix the cinnamon with the castor sugar and sprinkle over the whole.
Cooking the tart Bake the tart in the preheated oven until a sharp knife falls into the apples under it's own weight. Surprisingly this can take anything from 25 to 40 minutes. When checking take the opportunity to baste the top of the apples with the liquid in the tin with a pastry brush. Remove it from the oven and lightly place the puff pastry circle on top of the apples and scribe around the tin with a knife and just tuck the edges in. Cook for a further 30 minutes. Remove the tart from the oven and allow to cool down for 1 hour. Serving Turn the tart out on to a flat serving dish, pastry side down, and serve it with lots of fresh double cream or, even better, clotted cream. Do not be tempted to turn it out early if you want it to look as mega as it will taste. This keeps well and I think tastes better after a day or two...however once started......
I have also posted some drawings of pies and the tarte tatin on the forum. please look at them ~dpart544

Baked in an oven-to-table casserole, this dish will be very hot when it comes out of the oven, so be sure to let it cool for several minutes before serving.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS: Filling: 1 1/2 cups frozen corn kernels 2 tablespoons butter 1 large onion, chopped 1 stalk celery, chopped 1 1/4 pounds ground beef 1 clove garlic, minced 2 tablespoons flour 1 cup beef broth 1 cup diced canned tomatoes or crushed tomatoes in puree 1 teaspoon dried thyme 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce Salt and pepper to taste
Mashed Potato Topping: 6 cups peeled and chopped potatoes 2 teaspoons salt, plus salt to taste 4 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup sour cream 1/4 to 1/2 cup milk 1 to 1 1/2 cups grated white Cheddar cheese Paprika 1. Cook the corn according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. Start the potatoes for the topping. Put them in a large pot with enough water to cover them by a couple of inches. Add about 2 teaspoons of salt to the water. Bring the potatoes to a boil, uncovered, over high heat. Cook them for 10 to 13 minutes. Meanwhile, make the meat filling.
3. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion and celery in the butter, stirring often, for about 5 to 6 minutes.
4. Add the ground beef to the pan and break it up with a wooden spoon as it browns. Remove the skillet from the stove and, resting it on a heatproof surface so it won't feel so heavy, tilt the pan so that the excess fat runs to the side. Carefully spoon out the fat and discard it (this will make the dish leaner and healthier, as well as lighter tasting).
5. Put the skillet back on the burner and set the heat to medium low. Stir the garlic and flour into the beef mixture. Stir in the beef broth, then the canned tomatoes, then the herbs, reserved corn, and Worcestershire sauce.
6. Gently simmer the mixture for several minutes, partially covered, then add salt (1/4 teaspoon, give or take a little) and pepper to taste. Transfer the mixture to a large buttered casserole. Set the oven to 400°, and while it heats, check to see if your boiling potatoes are done.
7. To test the potatoes, use a slotted spoon to transfer a cube from the water to a cutting board and allow it to cool for 30 seconds or so. If you can slice through the chunk easily with a butter knife, the potatoes are done.
8. Set a large colander in the sink and drain the potatoes in it (this job can generate a lot of steam, so it is best done by an adult or under adult supervision). Transfer the drained potatoes to a large mixing bowl and scatter the butter pieces over them. Spoon the sour cream here and there over the hot potatoes as well. Wait several minutes for the butter to melt and the sour cream to warm so the ingredients will be easier to blend, then partially mash the potatoes with a hand masher.
9. Switch to an electric mixer set at medium speed and continue to mash, adding enough milk to make medium-soft mashed potatoes. Don't make them too soft, however; you want them to have some body.
10. Salt the potatoes to taste and spoon them evenly over the filling. Sprinkle the cheese over the top, then sprinkle on some paprika (be sure to wash your hands right afterward so you don't accidentally rub any of the spice in your eyes). Bake the pie on the center oven rack for about 20 minutes, until the top is golden brown. Cool for several minutes before serving. Makes 5 to 6 servings.

Put the whipped cream in a plastic bag, concentrating it in 1 corner of the bag. Snip that corner off the bag and squeeze the whipped cream out of the bag in a decorative pattern around the pie.

So if pecan pie is good, and chocolate is good, why not combine them and have the best of both worlds in a Chocolate Pecan Pie?
9” pie crust
1 1/2 cups pecans
3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
3 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup dark corn syrup
4 TB butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt

This is my pie recipie, for a chocolate pie it is unbelievably yummy and i wrote it down in my best recepies book its unbelivably sugary nice! 1 is way not enough you will want to eat like 10!
•1-9 inch prepared graham cracker pie shell
•1 cup of sugar
•2 tablespoons of cornstarch
•2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
•1/4 teaspoon of salt
•3 cups of milk
•3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
•4-1oz. squares Baker’s unsweetened chocolate

HOW TO MAKE THE AWESOME PIE!:
mix the sugar, cornstarch, flour, salt, and 1 cup of milk together with a whisk. Whisk in the remaining 2 cups of milk. Cook over medium heat for 8 to 9 minutes, until the mixture thickens, stirring a lot for the taste! Remove from head and whisk in the egg yolks. Return to medium heat and cook, stirring constantly for 2 to 3 minutes more. Remove from head and stir in the chocolate squares, butter, and the vanilla. Stir until smooth and all the chocolate is melted. Cool for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring now and then. Pour into graham cracker pie and shell refrigerate for 4 hours.
For the topping, beat the whipping cream until soft peaks form. Add the sugar slowly and beat until stiff peaks form. Spread onto cooled pie. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of Hershey’s (lovely!) cocoa over topping and serve this unbelievably yummy pie!

NAME:Lemon Meringue Pie
9” baked pie crust
Filling ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup lemon juice
1 cup water
4 eggs, separated (whites will be used in the meringue)
4 TB butter, cut into small pieces
2 tsp grated lemon rind
Meringue ingredients:
4 egg whites
1 TB cornstarch
1 TB sugar
1/3 cup water
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 cup sugar
Tips from Jane
— The number of lemons you will need depends on how large and juicy they are. I've used anywhere from 2 to 4 lemons, so make sure you have enough on hand.

My Ingredients for pie!:
Pastry for a 9" pie crust
5 tablespoons butter or margarine, divided
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
10 ounces whole small fresh mushrooms
4 medium leeks, white part only, sliced or 2 medium onions
3 large carrots, peeled, sliced thin
2 pounds boneless chicken thighs, skinned
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 cups chicken broth
½ cup cream, heavy or light
1 package (10 ounces) frozen peas
4 green onions, sliced
¼ cup chopped parsley
½ teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 egg mixed with 1 tablespoon of water
Prepare the pastry as directed and chill the dough.
In a Dutch oven over medium high heat melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in 1 tablespoon of the oil. Add the mushrooms and cook until browned, stirring occasionally. Remove the mushrooms with a slotted spoon to a large bowl. Reduce the heat to medium and add 1 tablespoon butter to the pot. Add the leeks and carrots and sauté until crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. Add these to the mushrooms. Return heat to medium high and add the remaining tablespoon of oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Cut the chicken into 1" pieces and add it to the pot. Saute over high heat until browned. Add it to the bowl of vegetables.
Lower the heat to medium. Add the flour to the drippings in the pot, stir until smooth and cook until it is bubbly. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and cream. Cook and stir until it boils, then continue cooking and stirring until thickened, about 5 minutes. Pour it into the bowl of chicken and vegetables. Stir the peas, sliced green onions, parsley, thyme, salt and pepper into the chicken mixture and spoon it into a 9" x 13" baking dish. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. On a lightly floured surface roll out the dough ¼" thick to a 9" x 13" rectangle. Crimp or flute the edges with your fingers to make a pretty rim. Gently lift the crust and place it on top of the warm chicken filling. Brush with the egg-water mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
P.s i really hope i win ive never won any compatitions before. :D

Hi William here,

This is my Grannies Recipe for Tarte Tatin
You will need:
For eight people.
Prep time 30 min.
Cooking time 60 min.
Special equipment:1 Tarte Tatin mould or round cake tin 24cm (91/2in) diameter and 5cm (2in)
Pastry: 150g best quality puff.
Filling: Approx 12 Granny Smith Apples
60g Unsalted Butter cut into thin slices.
2 large pinches of Cinnamon and more to taste.
135g Castor Sugar.
Caramel: 75g Castor Sugar.
30g Unsalted Butter
Rolling out the pastry
Roll the puff pastry out on a lightly floured surface to just larger than the diameter of the tin. Place on a tray lightly dusted with flour and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Cut out a circle slightly larger than the tin and refrigerate until required.
Preheat the oven to 375'F (190'C) Gas 5.
Preparing the apples
Peel all the apples. Cut eight of them in half vertically, and scoop out the cores. It is very important to heavily scoop out the apples so that they will interlock with each other Cut the remaining four apples into quarters and remove the cores. Keep, covered.
Cooking the caramel
Put the castor sugar in the tarte tatin mould and place over a medium heat until the sugar turns a dark caramel colour. Turn off the heat and stir in the butter. Cool down for a few minutes. It's very important to drain off any excess butter.
Building the tart
Place 16 halves of apple upright around the tin/mould, back to back rounded side to scooped-out side..
Cooking the tart
Bake the tart in the preheated oven until a sharp knife falls into the apples under it's own weight.
Serving
Turn the tart out on to a flat serving dish, pastry side down, and serve it with lots of fresh double cream or, even better, clotted cream. Do not be tempted to turn it out early if you want it to look as mega as it will taste. This keeps well and I think tastes better after a day or two...however once started......
I have also posted some drawings of pies and the tarte tatin on the forum. please look at them

World's Best Sheperd's Pie
Baked in an oven-to-table casserole, this dish will be very hot when it comes out of the oven, so be sure to let it cool for several minutes before serving.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
Filling:
1 1/2 cups frozen corn kernels
2 tablespoons butter
1 large onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 1/4 pounds ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup beef broth
1 cup diced canned tomatoes or crushed tomatoes in puree
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Mashed Potato Topping:
6 cups peeled and chopped potatoes
2 teaspoons salt, plus salt to taste
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 to 1/2 cup milk
1 to 1 1/2 cups grated white Cheddar cheese
Paprika

Baking pie is a rather straightforward technique, but a few tips can only help to make your pies come out looking and tasting perfect!
Here is the recipe:
Cooking Spray
12 graham crackers squares (whole sheets)
2 tablespoons butter (softened)
1 1/2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
3 tablespoons boiling water
1/3 cup plus 1/2 teaspoon sugar
3 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 egg yolks
1 1/2 cups 1 percent lowfat milk (if u want it healthy)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups sliced banana (3 medium bananas)
1/4 cup whipping cream
1.2 teaspoon sugar
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Spray a 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray. In a food processor, process graham crackers until finely ground. Add butter and 1 tablespoon of water, and process until the crumb clumps together (in case ur hungry get 1 XD). Press crumb mixture into bottom of pie plate and about 1/2-inch up the sides. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes, then let cool.
In the meantime, make the filling. Put the gelatin in a small bowl; add 3 tablespoons of boiling water and stir until gelatin is dissolved. In a medium saucepan, whisk together 1/3 cup of sugar and the flour. In a medium bowl lightly beat the milk and eggs together. Add the egg and milk mixture to the saucepan and whisk so the flour and sugar dissolve. Cook over a medium heat, stirring constantly, for 10 minutes, until mixture comes to a boil and has thickened. Stir in the vanilla extract and gelatin. Set aside to cool slightly.
Arrange the sliced bananas on the graham cracker crust and pour the pudding on top. Place in the refrigerator until the pudding has set, about 3 hours.
Whip the cream with an electric beater. When it is about halfway done, add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, then continue whipping until fully whipped. Put the whipped cream in a plastic bag, concentrating it in 1 corner of the bag. Snip that corner off the bag and squeeze the whipped cream out of the bag in a decorative pattern around the pie.

Man i need to make it perfect for the contest. All credits go to my mom.

Chicken Pot Pie
Yield: 6 servings
This is good with the Basic Butter Pastry or Cheddar Crust
Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

heres my recipie
1: Gather the ingredients. You will need 2 cups of brown sugar, 1 and ¾ cups milk, 6 tablespoons of flour, 6 tablespoons of butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and a pie crust.
2: Melt butter in a bowl and then add brown sugar and flour. Caramelize the ingredients in the microwave or in a pan on low heat.
3: Once caramelized, remove from heat and add milk and stir with a wooden spoon until the mixture becomes thick.
4: Once thick, add the vanilla and then let it cool.
5: Pour your sugar pie filling into a pie crust and cover with dough. Make slits in the top dough so steam can escape when cooking.
6: Bake your sugar pie for 30-45 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
7: Serve your pie with some whipped cream and enjoy!
Warnings: Your pie will be super hot when coming out of the oven; be careful.
